Ice Bathing from July 25 Newsletter

Why Ice Bathing is Awesome!

In a distracted and isolated world of iPhones and skyscrapers, more and more people are
craving to reconnect with their bodies, nature, and vitality. Ice bathing is one of the most
effective ways to achieve this.

Tell me, what else can completely change your state in under 2 minutes on all levels of human
experience?

Physical: Ice bathing not only strengthens your cardiovascular system, acting as a holistic
workout for your heart and blood vessels, but it also has been shown to reduce inflammation,
increase white blood cell count, increase brown fat and stabilize blood sugar levels. A cold
shower a day has even been proven to reduce sick days by half. Energy production optimizes
and so does your sleep quality. Sounds good doesn't it?

Mental: Ice bathing releases a cocktail of hormones including dopamine and noradrenaline
which both promote feeling happy as well as alert and focused. It is the same cocktail which is
released when you fall in love. Ice bathing also increases neuroplasticity which means you can
continue to learn new things as your brain is able to create new synaptic connections. So take
out that yoyo from your attic and learn som new tricks!

Emotional: Facing an ice bath is not comfortable, but facing the discomfort with support can
help you to grow more resilient and therefore be able to deal with stressful life situations in a
better way. Many people report to us that after ice bathing for some months, they were more
able to deal with things that were daunting before, for example, their taxes. This resilience not
only helps you build your capacity to hold life but also to navigate complex social and work
situations. The increased capability to hold intense sensations is also very valuable in the world
of therapy and trauma healing, because it will enable you to look at old pain, embrace it, go
through it, and thus, heal it. Starting to think about that ice bath?

Spiritual: In Scandinavian traditions, as well as in Japan and China, ice bathing was not just
used to increase physical vitality but also to cleanse the spiritual body. Entering an ice-cold lake
allows us to connect deeply to the instincts that open up the world of the connection to nature
and spirit. Imagine snow all around you, the quiet stillness of nature, as you enter an ice-cold
lake. There is not much else that brings you so into your body, into the moment, and into life.

Ice bathing is amazing, but it's important to stay safe. Consult your doctor if you have heart
problems, are pregnant, or have high blood pressure. If you go to nature, take a safety buddy
with you. Don’t swim around or put your head underwater, and stay in an area where you can
stand for 2 minutes.

Join millions of people on the quest of more aliveness and happiness.
